There is actually one thing we could do, that we have the money and ability to do, that would 1) put jobs back in America 2) put America in the driver's seat in world finance for the next 100 years 3) end the war in Iraq and 4) end terrorism in the US 5) solve the environment problems. Think of this.. the next pres does a mandate like Kennedy did with the moon program or they did in WW2 to get the nuclear bomb. Build a facility and put together a mini city of scientists and tell them.. don't you come out of there without a powerful engine that runs on hydrogen or some other ultra renewable fuel and a means to deliver it. Not some weak engine that you have to run under a plastic car, but something big and powerful and truly American. We then set up a whole new vehicle company 100% US based. Every nut every bolt and every tuft of seat stuffing made and assembled in the US. Change the laws to phase out the gas engine quickly and give people a huge tax break for turning in the old gas models. We build it and we keep the technology OURS. No patent sharing, no outsourcing. So we've now got jobs, we've got a money maker.. AND we are off of oil. Anything we need for plastic or whatever we can drill for on our own soil. We sell our cars./trucks/engines to Europe and whomever else will buy them, but we don't buy them from others. The middle East can't sell their oil and we (being so nice) say Osama... you wanted us out of your land, we're leaving. We leave them high and dry we pull out every scrap of material and assistance and we sit back. In a few years, they have no choice. They've got no money and no more excuses to bother us... so they either starve, go back to the stone age, or they start acting like human beings and we can be friends. The air is cleaner, our wallets are fatter.. and all because of ONE invention done right under a gov't mandate.
