This is a common misconception among Americans. There never has been and probably never will be true communism on this planet. Communism, according to Marx, is an advanced state of Socialism that cannot occur until literally hundreds of years of social change occurs. Communism occurs when the society has learned to put the needs of themselves aside for the needs of the community.
What is Capitalism? It is the PRIVATE ownership of capital. What is Socialism? It is the PUBLIC ownership of capital.
That being said, America is already drenched in Socialist tendencies. Both candidates supported the Bailout package, which socialized the loses of the private sector. You drive on roads. You call 911 when you have an emergency. More often than not, you or your children attend public schools. These are all socialist programs in a capitalist society.
Tax policy alone cannot %26quot;share the wealth%26quot; and turn us into a socialist society. It would take a complete transfer of ownership of all capital from private into public. That CANNOT happen because of tax policy. And you can rant and rave about left wing policies all you want, but the fact of the matter is, most politicians are wealthy, and they are not going to restructure the entire United States. I cannot even fathom the manpower, effort, and organization that would entail. It is not going to happen, so please stop trying to spread ignorant fear among the unlearned.
