Proud to be an American? Why? Has/Is America changing for worse? After reading this article, what do you think?

this is kind of a long question...but please do respond! i care about every answer that is posted. please just explain everything you say. i don't want vague phrases like %26quot;proud to be an american%26quot; or %26quot;the rights and freedoms our forefathers fought for%26quot; or %26quot;the sacrifices of others%26quot;.

have the freedoms of the citizens of america declined from their original intentions? has a sense of %26quot;if you're different, leave!%26quot; been bred into a generation of Americans? understandably, if you do not stand for ideals of a place, why should you live there, but when %26quot;liberty and justice for all%26quot; translates to %26quot;if you're the right race, religion, sexuality, and socio-economic background%26quot; is it ok to say, %26quot;this country is not living up to what it says%26quot;?

i don't want your answers to be filled with hate and ignorance, please! i just desperately want to understand both sides of this giant spectrum. those who believe america has declined and those who want to firmly believe that we don't have any problems, it's those who think everything needs to change.Proud to be an American? Why? Has/Is America changing for worse? After reading this article, what do you think?Im sort of in the middle. While many people in America like to complain about minor freedoms we do not have, we are very lucky to have them. People like to complain and say %26quot;The government is controlling us, we cant speak out!%26quot; all because they want to push for something stupid lke the legalization of weed. I believe that while our government may have a few problems, we are some of the luckiest people in the world to be able to express our opinion so freely. In other countries or time periods, someone could be KILLED for criticizing their government. And we also have the freedom to leave if we dont like our country. I wouldnt say im exactly %26quot;proud%26quot; to ba an American, but I am definately glad to be here.

I also think that America is changing for the better. The governemt seems to have become alot more open minded about certain things, so has society.

When I was younger, I never said the pledge because I simply did not like the sound of pledging my loyalty to a place of which I did not choose to be born in. I never chose to be an American citizen, so I chose not to say the pledge. Im probably not making mcuh sense, but thats just me :)Proud to be an American? Why? Has/Is America changing for worse? After reading this article, what do you think?Because liberals are telling people they don't have to be proud to be an American because America is essentially a bad country. Sounds like terrorists, doesn't it?Proud to be an American? Why? Has/Is America changing for worse? After reading this article, what do you think?I am proud to be a world citizen, considering the eventual, market-forced sacrifices Americans will willingly make to save a world on the brink.
