Have civil rights in America changed all that much since the 50's?

or do you think that African Americans are still as %26quot;invisible%26quot; to the white majority as ralph ellison suggested in his novel The Invisible Man? Just curious if the upcoming election has changed anything or if its all still pretty much the same.Have civil rights in America changed all that much since the 50's?It's fair to say that minorities nowadays have more rights than ever before. After all, the number of minorities living in the U.S. has increased significantly. However, we cannot ignore the fact that there is still institutionalized racism going on and although people do not verbally scream racist / prejudice remarks or act out their racist thoughts, minorities and women are still long ways away from being equal to the privileged white male. How does the U.S. maintain white supremacy? By incarcerating more African Americans than ever before. By making sure that inner cities (that have a large number of blacks %26amp; hispanic population) are crime infested because of poverty. By making sure blacks, hispanics and women are paid less than their white male counterpart and because they are paid less, they have to work more hours, thus keeping them away from their children who are left to fend for themselves - therefore these kids become more susceptible to engaging in criminal activities because of lack of supervision. By making sure minorities do not get as good an education as white people because let's face it, the higher the community property value is, the more tax dollars goes into their school district - and who inhabits these rich, affluent communities? -- white people do - so of course, they would have better teachers teaching in the classroom, better technology available to them, better materials, etc etc.

It's a ridiculous cycle.Have civil rights in America changed all that much since the 50's?yep it created a world where we cant insult barrack without it being racist
