How revolutionary was the America revolution?At the time there was no other government on earth that was %26quot;by the people and for the people%26quot; to quote from Lincoln's 1863 Gettysburg Address. America after the revolution became a Republic with no king, sultan, or emperor. The leaders were elected by the people. Of course it wasn't perfect. Only white men with property could vote. Women and African Americans had no say in the new government of the United States as it emerged in 1787.
