Is America a changing nation?

I am a moderate republican, but my best friend at work is a really really far left democrat. Anyway, today at work she was soooo sad and angry about the results of yesterday's elections in New Jersey and Virginia. I asked her why she was so mad about that and she said it's because she is seeing her country slip away. She said America is changing nation and she hates it.

To back up her theory, she says that 2 of the bluest states in America, New Jersey and Virginia, voted for republicans last night. I told her that everyone knows New Jersey is a blue state, but not Virginia. But she brought up a good point: Virginia has a democrat governor, 2 democrat senators and it's a state that went easily for Obama in 2008, so if that's not one of the bluest state in the nation, what is???

So my question is, is America a changing nation? Are liberals and democrats correct in the fear and anger of their nation slipping away from them? Are they losing their country???Is America a changing nation?Yep , just like a mutating virus or malignant cancerIs America a changing nation? The real meaning of out come of two races you mentioned is media hype to some degree paid for by Republican Party to keep people from abandoning ship and media companies to keep political advertising high. The same way after the Reagen swipe in 80's one republican governor and representative lost their seats and same spin spun. Federal mid term elections will really telling storyIs America a changing nation?America is always changing. I think it's premature to declare the Democrats finished. The Congress switched to Republican control during Bill Clinton's 2nd year in office, but he still won a second term as president. I think these elections were about the current governors of New Jersey and Virginia more than Democrats in general. And going all blue in its last round of elections doesn't automatically make Virginia blue.

Democrats should still be careful, though. I believe those last rounds of elections were more about getting failed Republican leadership out of office than putting Democrats into office. They still need to show the people that they are leaders the people can trust and not just the best available alternatives at the time.Is America a changing nation? It had changed.

Great illusion isn't it--the great Houdini lives. Is America a changing nation?Ha! Good for her.

I hope she gets fired for talking about politics at work.

Then she will have something else to cry about.

Want me to send her an email? Telling her to shut up and get used to it?Is America a changing nation? The US is always changing, but it has little to do with an obscure election or two on the east coast. Is America a changing nation?Nothing stays the same, everything changes.

.Is America a changing nation?Yes and No. America is always changing. But it is almost always changing for the better.

Would anyone really prefer the 1950's when Jim Crow ruled the south, equal pay for equal work was non existent unless you were a white male, pollution was so bad it killed people, people died on the highways at 4 times the rate they do today, you could only marry someone of your race, poor children died of malnutrition in this country every day, and the top tax rate was 90% (today it is 35%)

Of course not.

Who thinks it is acceptable that people die for lack of access to medical care or that people lose everything to major illness or injury? Who thinks it acceptable that the 1000 rights, benefits, privileges, and responsibilities granted with a marriage licenses should be denied to 10 percent of the population based on religious arguments? Well, plenty, but they are wrong and the country will change.

The bottom line, change that is so obviously correct, needed, good and just can't be stopped. (It may suffer a set back from time to time) If that is 'loosing your country', then you live in the wrong countryIs America a changing nation?America has been changing for a long time. It has a near permanent underclass that believes it is entitled to benefits which the state extorts from the productive class. The existence %26amp; growth of that class is the foundation of the Democratic party, so no, the nation is not slipping away from them. These election results are bumps in the road.Is America a changing nation?America is changing and is not the country it once was but the world is changing two.Is America a changing nation?I am neither a Democrat or Republican yet I share that same fear.On social issues I'm liberal and on fiscal issues I'm conservative. Both parties are failing on both issues .Republicans fail to see how much the party has cost us and how far they've removed themselves from true conservative family values and fiscal responsibility.Democrats also have taken a wishy washy approach to family values and civil liberties and continued the expansion of Federal debt. Both are guilty of violating the separation of Church and State. We as a nation are allowing are selves to become far to divided on issues that we used to agree to disagree on. It is a sad day in America when civil rights are placed on the ballot what used to be inalienable is now up for vote.To me nothing is more American than disagreeing but nothing could be less than American than to vote to remove someones right to choose to live as they please and to have that right recognized. Is America a changing nation? Not yet, no. But, as long as the voters keep putting such backward thinking greed mongers in power, then we will be f*cked. Is America a changing nation?yup were changing allright, straight down hill that isIs America a changing nation? It is now.

We gave the Democrats a chance.

They blew it.

Now tell your friend to have her temper tantrum but it doesn't change the fact that

SHE LOST!

Tell her to just get over it.Is America a changing nation? What till 2012 and we shall see?Is America a changing nation?Uhhh.....errrr......ummmm...... %26quot; Present %26quot;Is America a changing nation? It is, and it's NOT for the better. Is America a changing nation?People have gotten a little taste of %26quot;change%26quot; a.k.a. big government, and they don't like it. Too bad for your friend. Is America a changing nation? No.

People bought into the %26quot;hope and change%26quot; and electing a black president but they didn't have any idea who he is.

As he is trying to %26quot;remake America%26quot;, Americans are telling him to go to hell. We don't want socialism or more government and more taxes. We are not changing, we are trying to keep America free from government tyranny.
