We have the most liberal immigration laws in the world.
As much as Europe wont admit it they need us more than we need them.
We don't need the U.N they need us.
Why do we have to change our health to catch up with the the rest of the world?
First the only way they can afford universal health care is because we protect europe and that means they have small military budgets. Why do politicians want to change America when there is nothing wrong with it?Because all politicians want to leave behind a legacy. Why do politicians want to change America when there is nothing wrong with it?Why do we have to change our health to catch up with the the rest of the world?
Perhaps because there are FORTY MILLION AMERICANS WHO ARE UNINSURED. Meaning, if they need treatment they will DIE or go broke paying for it.
Fingers in the ears and eyes closed, huh?Why do politicians want to change America when there is nothing wrong with it?Tell the US citizens that die every year from treatable illnesses but who can't afford health-care. I am sure they are all patriotic Americans but I doubt they would agree that there is nothing wrong with America. Why do politicians want to change America when there is nothing wrong with it?Nothing wrong?
We pay twice as much for healthcare, but don't live as long.
High incarceration rate
Highest infant mortality rate among industrialized nations
Import over half our energy
Dependent on the world for our labor
I love this country, but if you stick your head in the sand we can't make it better. Why do politicians want to change America when there is nothing wrong with it?When you refer to healthcare, it only needs to change if the American people want it to.
I am always amazed how many Americans seem not to be aware about the real healthcare issues relying instead on FOX and other sources to spread lies about the healthcare system of the USA and those abroad. I mean, if healthcare in nations with universal coverage is so bad, why do they keep it?
Obama wants to make insurance more available to all and change the system so that it gives the American people value for money [1]. He also wants change so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Taiwan where private companies are involved in providing healthcare [2].
Obama campaigned on reforming the healthcare system. He said he wanted to make insurance more available and he was elected by the American people to do this [3].
FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids both for kids aged under one and those under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [4].
FACT ?American insurance companies push up prices and work to stop paying out claims on those they cover [5].
FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [6].
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in any western nation with universal health coverage.
If you do not like the policies that Obama was elected to bring in, he can always be voted out of office in 2012. But if you disagree with the facts, please let me know. I am always willing to learn, but please provide proof. None of those who disagree with me have been able to do that so far.Why do politicians want to change America when there is nothing wrong with it?If there is nothing wrong with America, why do you need a police force?
The United States may be powerful, but it certainly can't operate on its own. Most American companies are available internationally. You can pick up a Coca Cola in Paris, Istanbul,Tokyo and Cape Town. Coca-Cola requires ingredients which can't be grown in the United Statesin order to make it.
Europe makes up most of the developed world. Other than the United States and Europe, the only developed economies are Canada, Australia, South Korea (questionable) and Japan. If the United States did not trade with Europe, it would seriously affect its income.
Europe also plays a key role in the United Nations and NATO. The friendship between the United States and Europe is essential to international politics, and is mutually beneficial.
As for the 'most liberal immigration Laws in the world' while the US does contain a lot of immigrants, that doesn't have mean they have the most liberal immigration laws in the world.
Your arguement about the United States protecting Europe is an interesting one. How exactly does the United States protect Europe? The only real threat to the European Union is Russia, who are also a threat to the United States. Which is why we co-operate in keeping Russia in check.
It's quite depressing how many Americans are arrogant about the United States alleged 'superiority' but fail to realise the crippling inadequacies. While America does excell in many respects, it is also inadequate in others and healthcare is the prime example. The high murder rates and levels of drug abuse also seem to suggest that the United States is far from having 'nothing wrong with it'.
What irritates me though, is that you completly undermime Europe while trying to take the credit for everything. For example the recent Haitian Earthquake. Rush Limbaugh was boasting about just how much America had done for Haiti, while putting down the rest of the world. But to make it even more offensive, he turned what should be a celebration of people working together into a political speech. He said %26quot;Venezuela didn't send anyone%26quot; and then corrected himself with %26quot;No, they sent 30 guys%26quot; and put them down. Rather than thanking Venezuela for making a contribution, he turned it into a rant about 'Socialism'.
Interestingly, i read in the paper this morning that other countries aid packages are being diverted because of the United States sending troops... but we shall leave that for now.
The Healthcare System in the United States, is quite frankly disturbing.
Higher cost for reduced quality care, not to mention the millions of people who have to do without any healthcare whatsoever? You think that money is more important than someone elses life? You would rather save a little bit of cash then be able to live your life knowing that no matter what happens to you, treatment would be available?
Reading these questions about healthcare, it almost makes me cry. It's like hundreds of idiots who have become so filled with their parties political agenda that they fail to even see sense any more. Good grief.
I'm from an upper middle class family, and yesterday I asked my father if it would be better if we didn't have the NHS and he said 'Oh god no'. I assure you we would be on the side who can afford Insurance (Our house is worth $650,000) and even the Conservative party is asking for increased spending on the NHS.
Those of us Europeans who keep updated about the Healthcare System in the United States, we pity you. You just believe it all, you don't think for a second: %26quot;Gee, no political parties in the UK want to abolish healthcare. Maybe they are right?%26quot; you just automatically go along with %26quot;Well that is because they are Socialised Wellfare weaklings who have no freedom and hate America!%26quot;
For the love of god, open your god damn eyes! You are being lied to! The Insurance companies do not want what is best for you and are doing everything in their power to stop that from happening! Do you really trust a company that puts profit before someones life?
But, will any of you listen? No, you won't listen.
I have a little challenge for anyone on here that is against Universal Healthcare.
I want you to cancel your health insurance plan. All of them, at any level- I want you to be completly uninsured.
Then you are on the same playing field as all those who are NOT fortunate enough to have healthcare.
If you aren't willing to do that, it's clearly better to have Healthcare, isn't it?
Those who can't afford Healthcare don't get to choose.
And that is why you need universal healthcare.
Unless you think your money is more important; in which case you should stop donating to Haiti. At least then you are consistent in your beliefs. Because if they are poor, they pretty much deserve it, Right? Why do politicians want to change America when there is nothing wrong with it?nothing wrong with it? i think the 17-20% who are unemployed would argue.
the 20 million who can't afford insurance would argue.
the millions who have no homes would argue.
the starving people living in the streets, the people who get screwed over by corporate greed, they would argue.
but you go on living in your dream world. the rest of us will do the work that needs doing.
