I'm serious about this question. I've been overseas during the election so I missed out on a lot of the campaigning. I've heard how Obama is going to change things but I haven't heard his plan on how he's going to change things. What are his grandiose ideas? Or, is his plan just to change things and figure out how later? seriously somebody PLEASE give a good answer!Totally serious question: How is Obama going to change America?the democratic plan is quite consistent really. He will use some variation on the basic theme. Here are some highlights.
Redo the tax policies, increase taxes on upper 5% of earners to Clinton era rates. Reduce taxes on 95% of the population.
Re-regulate the financial and other industries that have screwed up so badly. For instance, he suggests we clamp down on medical insurance companies and require they cover pre-existing conditions. I haven't heard him go so far as to say nationalized health care, which I find a little disappointing. If you aren't in the military, health care is a huge, huge issue.
Restructure our energy sources. Instead of fighting expensive wars in the middle east, he wants to move us towards energy independence. Wind, solar, conservation, biomass etc. He would like to see the US become world leaders in this technology.
Expect some protection for our industrial based jobs. Perhaps requiring that any goods imported paid a fair wage to the labor that produced them. Like a world minimum wage.
He also is going to open diplomatic ties and negotiations in hot spots, which should diffuse world tension. Some of the mid-east radical groups have already indicated they would soften their position if they don't have to deal with a republican. He will refocus the military away from Iraq and into Afghanistan. IOW, speak very softly, and carry a very big stick.
Dude, if you are in the military, please, please, please get as much information about our politicians as possible. I know it's a subject that is dryer than dust. But it's your precious life that is at stake. I cannot take any more stories about dead and wounded military people. We love you guys, we have not forgotten. Your well being is at the heart of our politics.
